Yes. CAT is an aptitude test and students from different undergraduate streams can crack it. If you have not used mathematics recently, give yourself time to rebuild the basics. If English reading is a challenge, daily reading and careful review of comprehension questions can help you improve gradually.

You do not need to copy an engineer’s timetable or compare your starting score with someone who has been preparing for years. Identify your own gaps, work on them consistently and use evidence from practice tests to decide what to do next.

Instead of following someone else’s timeline, create a roadmap built for your starting point. Check out our step-by-step CAT 2027 study plan for beginners to build your strategy.

Building your basics as a Tamil Nadu student

For students from Tamil Nadu who feel that they are not very strong in school level maths, we would personally suggest you to spend 10 to 15 days studying School level maths (6th std to 10th std) before delving to solve CAT concepts. This would strengthen their basics and make them confident. Similarly we had seen some students from Non-Metro cities of Tamil Nadu possessing immense talent but fear English – for such students, we personally suggest you to develop habit of reading Non Fiction English books (atleast 15-20 pages) daily.

Developing a daily reading habit strengthens your base, but executing a strategy on test day requires section-wise planning. Learn how to prepare for CAT VARC, DILR, and Quantitative Aptitude while leveraging mock tests.
